This month All Industrial Electric Supply’s marketing coordinator, Sesa Pabalan, attended the National Association of Electrical Distributor’s AdVenture, a marketing conference for professionals in the electrical parts and lighting distribution industries.
Sesa joined our team last September after managing our newsletters, social media channels, blog and videos for 18 months. Even then she knew she still had a lot to learn about marketing electrical products. “Connecting with contractors and creating awareness around our products and services are challenges,” she said. “Electrical parts distribution and our target demographic are still new to me.
“The NAED conference gave me the opportunity to learn what has worked for seasoned marketing and sales professionals in this industry,” she explained. “I learned about building projects, tracking their progress, new marketing technologies and channels, and how to work with management and sales teams to execute marketing campaigns.
“I especially found the awards ceremony beneficial, because it showed successful print and online marketing campaigns from distributors of all sizes. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned to build next year’s marketing plan. You’re going to see a lot of hustling from All Industrial in the next few months.”
When Sesa wasn’t in the conference, she hung out with the other conference attendees over dinners and drinks. The conference also fell on her first week of her marathon training, so she ran a few miles along the Chicago River that Monday and Wednesday. “Chicago is my new favorite city,” she said. “There is so much architecture — and so much delicious food! It’s a very grand place. I’d like to go back and visit soon.”
The conference was her first work trip outside of the Bay Area. “I’m grateful Alex sent me to this conference,” she said. “He and his team created my position for me, and we’ve worked hard to build my skills.
“When I first accepted this role, some people said a woman would be out of place in an electrical parts company. But the management team here is invested in the success of all of its staff, from the warehouse to the office. I work with women in operations and sales, and we do thrive here.
“Alex can be a tough boss,” she admitted. “But he pushes us to meet our goals and develop professionally. The NAED conference was a great opportunity for me to grow as a marketer, and I hope to go again next year.”
