Our Accounting Department needs an experienced Senior GL / Payroll Accountant to work closely with them as the organization grows. The Senior GL & Payroll Accountant position reports to and supports the Corporate Controller in the following key responsibilities:
  • Support Month-End close activities across the portfolio companies.
  • Analyze and reconcile assigned balance sheet and intercompany accounts, preparing general ledger entries and adjustments of AR/AP, Interco, etc.
  • Administer the payroll process – process bi-monthly paychecks, payroll journals, payroll taxes, payroll withholdings, conduct regular audits, etc.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the HR Dept. for payroll related matters, changes, and updates
  • Administer the commissions’ calculations process to ensure accurate payouts
  • Reconcile bank and cash accounts in a timely manner
  • Assist Controller and CFO with financial reporting and analysis as required
This position is located near SFO. You will be in a newly added role and will help us build this position into what it needs to be. To be successful, you will have multi-company experience and be able to work within firm timelines in a fast-paced environment. You will be highly organized and able to work in an independent fashion.

Successful candidates must have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field of study
  • A minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in GL Accounting and recent Payroll Processing
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Understanding of current payroll related labor laws and regulations
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing, fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office – especially Excel

Key responsibilities will include answering phones and greeting customers, performing tasks requested by accounting, sales and other departments, ensuring all kitchen and office supplies are stocked, interfacing with the janitorial staff to keep our office tidy, and supporting the staff in general. This is an entry-level position that requires excellent English speaking skills, listening skills, the ability to arrive at work every day, on-time, ready to work, with a passion for delivering great customer service.
