You may have noticed we have a new face at our counter lately. Alex recently promoted Wisconsin native John Greenwood from the warehouse to counter sales!
John grew up on a farm in Wisconsin, where he was raised to be hands-on with the family home. “My dad had me help him fix everything,” he recalled. “I learned how to do everything from electrical to plumbing.” He considers himself an expert in breakers. “I have experience in putting them together.”
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin he moved to the Bay Area two and a half years ago. He used his handyman experiences to secure a seasonal position at Lowe’s. “The managers realized I had a lot of electrical parts knowledge,” he said, and two weeks later he accepted a position as the store’s sales specialist position for the plumbing department.
John had been doing sales for two years when his best friend, AIES inside salesman John Lloyd, encouraged him to apply for a job at All Industrial. John met with Alex and discussed working in his warehouse. “He asked where I wanted to be, and I said sales,” John said.
“Alex then asked why I didn’t apply for a sales position first. I told him I wanted to learn more about the products and work my way from the bottom up, so I could learn more about the company and how it works.” He was quickly hired.
After John Lloyd was promoted to inside sales, Alex had no doubt who to promote to the counter. “John Greenwood is a bulldog,” he said. He appreciates John’s eagerness to serve our customers to the best of his abilities and believes he’ll go far in the company.
John described his first weeks at the AIES counter “fun” and “interesting.” “You have to focus,” he explained, “pay attention to detail and ask a lot of questions. Learning where everything is is probably the biggest challenge.” He finds a great deal of joy in helping our customers find the best electrical parts solutions.
“The most rewarding part of this job is interacting with the customers. I like helping them and even offering them other options if they need them.” He also enjoys looking through the latest offerings in our lighting catalogs.
“Customers should come here because we’re going to know exactly what you’re talking about,” he said. “We’re going to go out of our way to get the product to the customer.”
When John isn’t at the counter he likes to go camping. He and John Lloyd recently drove up to Russian River. He’s a huge football fan, and his favorite team is the Green Bay Packers — a favorite here in the office.
John is also a frequent visitor of The Saddle Rack in Fremont, where he shows off his line dancing moves. To see him in action, check out the video below!
