The year was 2004, and I had been in the electrical industry for 10 years at that point, working for a national distributor. I had learned a lot in those 10 years, yet my biggest learning was something that was impossible for me to further develop working for someone else. You see, in the end, business is very simple. It is just about doing the right thing for your customer. The question is, whose lens are you processing what the “right thing” means? When working for someone else, particularly a large distributor, the right thing is often about what’s best for the company’s bottom line, not necessarily the customer. I believed that I could create a company that focused on the customer’s needs first, and I decided that if I work this hard, I might as well do it for myself. I was very fortunate that other passionate people in the industry felt the same way as I did. They decided to join me in opening All Industrial Electric Supply. Our focus was on building long-term relationships with customers. We concentrated on simplifying our customer’s work, which led to developing very strong friendships and ultimately catapulted the business to what it is today.
